Venus is roughly the same size as the Earth, but the similarities end there. Learn some cool facts about Venus and be thankful you’re on Earth.

Video Summary

Venus is one of the most oddball planets in our solar system. The planet actually spins in the opposite direction compared to Earth (and most other planets). Thus, the sun rises in the west on Venus. The upper atmosphere is made up of clouds of sulfuric acid. These clouds amplify the greenhouse effect, raising the surface temperature of the planet to over 460 degrees Celsius. That’s hotter than Mercury’s surface! Venus’ landscape is harsh and holds more volcanoes than Earth’s surface. Standing on Venus would crush you. The pressure is so intense, that it’s like standing on the floor of the ocean one kilometer down.
