Is your ice cream frozen solid? Being unable to enjoy it, because you can’t get your spoon through is a real pain. Fortunately, with a little clever planning, dessert doesn’t have to be put off.
This is actually a really simple thing to do. It begins by taking a paring knife and running it under hot water. You want the blade to be nice and sharp and then water to be good and hot. After you’ve prepared the paring knife, you should now be able to cut through the frozen ice cream. Get a good inch deep and space your cuts about an inch from another as well. Then turn the container and cut again so you make a checkerboard pattern. Finally, put your ice cream scoop under hot water as well and get to work scooping. If you get through the first layer, you can always cut another inch-deep grid and keep going.
